We were fortunate to catch up with Rachel Baumel, an attorney, mediator, and a small business owner, who shared her incredible journey and insights. Rachel’s resilience and dedication shine through her experiences as a cancer thriver, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for her business, Sleep Again Pillows.

Diagnosed in 2017, Rachel’s battle with breast cancer was a pivotal moment. Despite facing surgeries and treatments, she emerged stronger and more balanced. Cancer acted as a catalyst for change, teaching her the importance of self-care and the need to find a better equilibrium between work and personal life.

Rachel’s venture, Sleep Again Pillows, emerged from her personal journey. In November 2017, Rachel had a double mastectomy, and created a pillow system to help her sleep and heal. She used the pillow system for a total of 4 surgeries within that year and then started lending it out to people and that is how Sleep Again Pillows was started! The pillows are fully supportive, thoughtfully designed, and are able to help anyone who is required to sleep on their back following surgery. Focused on providing comfort and healing post-surgery, this venture reflects her commitment to making a positive impact. Her desire to fill gaps in the market with purpose-driven solutions defines her entrepreneurial spirit.

Rachel’s commitment to customer service is a standout feature of her brand. While many companies shy away from direct customer contact, Rachel emphasizes personal connection. She and her partner, Kate Devlin, are hands-on, ensuring they address customer queries and concerns promptly. This level of engagement and care sets them apart in an industry that often lacks such personalized attention.

Having sold several businesses, Rachel emphasizes the need for realistic expectations among buyers. She highlights the misconceptions about running a business and advises aspiring entrepreneurs to seek buyers with relevant experience. Her risk-taking nature has been a cornerstone of her success, allowing her to navigate challenges and build thriving enterprises.
Rachel credits her husband, Dan, for unwavering support and belief in her ideas. She also applauds her business partner, Kate Devlin, whose dedication has been instrumental in their joint success.

Despite her bustling life, Rachel finds joy in exploring Denver’s offerings. From coffee shops like Aviano Coffee to outdoor excursions and vibrant eateries, she enjoys the city’s diversity and delights in sharing its gems with friends and visitors.
In summary, Rachel Baumel embodies resilience, a customer-centric approach, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. Her journey through entrepreneurship, resilience against adversity, and dedication to customer care serve as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs and individuals seeking a more balanced, purpose-driven life.
