THRIVER LIST: Lauren Schnuckel

Hey WGT Community! My name is Lauren Schnuckel and I was diagnosed with incurable stage 4 Medullary Thyroid Cancer at the age of 26, with Mets to lungs and bones. I’m currently 29. I’m a post production supervisor in scripted television and I’m irrationally obsessed with Harry Styles (always have been). Here are my top 5 recs:

Wedge pillow – to help stay upright while sleeping after surgery, and to support your back. Having to constantly create a pillow fort around your body is exhausting, and waking up in a contorted position doesn’t help reduce pain!

Ice pack designed for neck x2 – Icing my neck is the only thing that helped some of the nerve pain issues I had post surgery, and having two meant one could go back in the freezer while the other was in use. They have also helped me with increased bone pain after radiation!

Squishmallow hugmee – I was gifted a big squishmallow early in my diagnosis and it has truly been a lifesaver. It brings so much comfort to me and I now have a hard time sleeping without petunia…extra points for a big one you can wrap your arms around.

Straws – drinking without a straw can be a challenge, and some cute bendy reusable glass straws are practical but also joyful.

Bath soak – A nice, calming bath soak has been a great way for me to de-stress and relax after treatment, especially radiation. This one in particular smells great!
